Priscilla Vallejo

Dental Assistant Advisor
Priscilla was born in San Diego, California, however she mainly grew up in New Mexico. Priscilla grew up around dentistry as her father was a Dental Lab Technician in San Diego, who then trained her mother and her 3 siblings. Dentistry never really interested Priscilla in her younger years. Instead, she continued her education in Culinary arts gaining her degree in San Francisco. After a few years she switched careers and worked as supervisor/branch manager in a home health care agency for 10 years.

Priscilla decided to take a leap of faith and try her luck in Phoenix, Arizona. After working so many years with home health care, Priscilla decided to look into switching careers. After a few tours at different colleges, she decided to sign up with Brookline College in the Dental assisting program. This program was fast paced, however, she will ever be grateful for her instructor. Priscilla loves to volunteer when she is able to and one of the biggest life changing events that she volunteered for was the AZMOM( Arizona Mission of Mercy). Thousands of people were helped with their oral health at no cost to them. This was the moment that Priscilla knew she had made the right career choice. After 10 months of learning and hands on it was time to take on an externship. Priscilla had to work 180 hours for her to complete her course and receive her certification. Priscilla worked her hours with an Oral Surgeon and after completion, he was able to recommend her to a General Dentist at a cosmetic dental office for a full time job. Priscilla graduated with honors and a 4.0 GPA, all while serving as President of the student body. Priscilla received her RHS( Radiation Health and Safety) as well as her Dental Assistant certification. While living in Phoenix, Priscilla met her husband who serves actively in the United States Air Force. Together they have enjoyed life to the fullest. Dental Assistant
As the daughter of an Air Force veteran, I was fortunate to travel through and live in many places within the U.S and beyond. I was born in Okinawa, Japan and by the time I was nine years old, I had already moved six times. Finally, our feet landed on the frozen Fairbanks ground, and we found our home. I have now been here for about fifteen years, and have enjoyed every second of the many adventures Alaska has opened the door to.

When the sun is shining, you won’t find me indoors. I spend much of my time hiking, kayaking, and soaking up as much of the midnight sun as I possibly can.On those cold winter nights, I either have my face in a book or am laughing and spending quality time with friends and family. They have been my biggest supporters throughout my collegiate and professional career and continue to push me to be the best version of myself as I follow my passions and pursue my goals.

After graduating from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks with a BS in Biological Sciences and Physiology, I was ready to apply for medical school. The chaos of 2020 put a damper on those plans, but I was fortunate to have an opportunity in the dental field fall into my lap. I have now worked in the dental field as both an assistant and front office coordinator for over two years and have gained a new passion. I hope to continue to pursue a career in the Dental field and plan to apply to dental school in the near future.
